I follow and contribute to various social-media teacher groups. Some posts request ideas from the group to make their lessons more fun, more entertaining. The teacher will say their students get bored easily and seem to require “instant gratification” or instant results, to enjoy their learning.

I’m presently in Bali for business and pleasure. I’ve taken up surfing, and the challenge and difficulty reminds me of the learning and teaching process for mastering music. Am I getting a bit old for this? Isn’t surfing for younger, more agile people?

I give talks in schools (and for companies) about personal responsibility in education. Whilst I provide PD to teaching staffs and give enrichment lectures to students, I also speak to parents about their role at home, and some of the pitfalls with phones, gaming, sleeping and so on. Recently I received this email from a parent and teacher, who attended my staff and parent sessions.
